How to Remove Explore.Zip

Here's How:
  1. Click on the Start button and select "Run..." from the Start menu. Type win.ini and click on "OK" to open the win.ini program in a text editor.
  2. For Windows 95 or 98 delete run=<Windows System Path\Explore.exe or run=<Windows System Path\_setup.exe if they exist in the win.ini file.
  3. Windows NT users need to press CTRL-ALT-Delete and click on the Task Manager button to "End Task" Explore.exe or _setup.exe if running.
  4. Windows NT users need to select "Run..." from the Start menu and type in regedit to edit the Registry.
  5. Click on plus symbol for each directory, in order: HKEY_CURRENT_USERS, Software, Microsoft, Windows, NT, CurrentVersion, Windows, Run.
  6. Click on Explore.exe or _setup.exe if present and press delete to delete them from the registry. Confirm the deletion request.
  7. Select "Exit" from the Registry menu.
  8. Reboot the computer and delete any files originally associated with the worm to avoid reinfection or spreading of the worm.


Tips:

  1. Always make a backup of important files before major events, even if infected.
  2. Carefully work within the Registry to avoid serious corruption or operational errors.
  3. Windows NT users may need to reboot if unable to delete files in use in the registry.
