How to Fit F-Prot on a Disk
From your Antivirus Software Guide
Now that F-Prot is much larger in size there's a trick you need to know on how to fit it on a floppy disk - and it's easy!
Difficulty Level:
Easy
Time Required:
10 minutes
Here's How:
- Download F-Prot and install it on the hard drive of the computer of choice.
- Copy the following files to a floppy disk: F-Prot.EXE, English.TX0, Sign.def, Sign2.def, and nomacro.def.
- On the floppy disk rename nomacro.def to macro.def.
- Label the disk as "F-Prot" and lock it by moving the plastic tab on the disk jacket up until you can see a hole appear.
Tips:
- This method enables F-Prot to scan for system viruses, but NOT macro viruses.
- Test F-Prot by booting from a boot disk and then running F-Prot from the floppy disk, using an EICAR test file.
- Always run a scan from the hard drive installation of F-Prot after running a scan with the floppy disk version to make sure you scan for macro viruses.
- Update the macro.def and sign.def files on both the hard disk and floppy disk installations often.
- Back up work often to avoid losing important data during a virus infection and/or removal from a computer.
