Blizzard Rescinds Real Name Requirement

Amidst a flurry of privacy and safety concerns, Activision Blizzard has rescinded their plans to publish real names in forum posts. According to the official blue post:

We've been constantly monitoring the feedback you've given us, as well as internally discussing your concerns about the use of real names on our forums. As a result of those discussions, we've decided at this time that real names will not be required for posting on official Blizzard forums.

Blizzard's not-quite-as-controversial in-game Real ID feature will remain intact. A big concern there is that a /run hack suggests that Real ID is linked whether a player has opted-in or not. Let's hope that gets addressed as well. Until then, be sure to install only known and trusted addons (something you should be doing anyway).
