Apple Bites into Antivirus; Spits it Out

In a rather schizophrenic move, Apple began recommending Mac antivirus software to its Mac users in mid-November, then removed the recommendation for marketing reasons a couple of weeks later. Thomas Claburn of InformationWeek provides commentary in "Apple Axes Antivirus Help Page". While Apple focuses on their marketing needs, the folks at Intego continue to focus on the Mac user's security needs - reporting the discovery of yet another variant of the OSX.RSPlug Trojan.
