Filed under "Silly" at The Consumerist is this little gem: Earthlink Tries To Sell You Anti-Virus Protection When You Contact Them To Cancel Your Anti-Virus Protection. The post provides a snippet of a chat conversation between a customer (trying to cancel the Earthlink provided antivirus) and an Earthlink customer service rep who humorously tried to upsell the cancellation into an even more expensive protection package. Anyone else remember the AOL cancellation nightmare circa 2006? To be fair, unlike the AOL case, the Earthlink CSR took the hint after the second no and pleasantly signed off.
