Antivirus Pricing for Today's Family
We have 7 computers in our home, not counting those that do double duty with removable hard drives. Obviously this introduces a budget challenge when considering new software purchases or upgrades. And according to a survey conducted by Sunbelt Software, I'm in the majority - most respondents to their survey (35%) indicated they had more than 3 computers in their homes. To conserve costs, I can easily forgo an upgrade to Vista and stick with XP (which I prefer), or keep using Office 2003 in lieu of the pricey 2007 upgrade. But when it comes to security software, it's critical - and worthwhile - to upgrade every year, or every two years at the most. Until now, the best option for budget-minded multi-computer households has been to build their own free security suite.
Yesterday, Sunbelt Software introduced a second budget option. They'll be offering an unlimited home site license for all their consumer products, which means no matter how many PCs are in your home, you can protect them all for the price of just one. According to Alex Eckelberry, president and CEO of Sunbelt Software:
This is an unlimited license — it works for as many computers as you have at home, whether 3, 10, 50 or 100 computers. No guilt, no BS. No limits. Here’s how the pricing breaks out:
iHateSpam .............................................. $39.95
CounterSpy............................................. $39.95
Sunbelt Personal Firewall ........................... $39.95
VIPRE™ Antivirus + Antispyware ................. $49.95The annual subscription provides protection for unlimited PCs and includes one year of software updates and upgrades, any relevant threat definitions, and live US-based toll-free technical support.
Now that's what I call a great deal. You can read more about the offer here.
And heck, with all that money you'll save, you can afford to buy yet another computer. :-)Also see: How to Build Your Own (Free) Security Suite for Windows
