Pentagon Hacked; PLA Said to Blame

Tuesday September 4, 2007
The Financial Times is reporting that "The Chinese military hacked into a Pentagon computer network in June in the most successful cyber attack on the US defence department". The tracks have allegedly been traced to the People's Liberation Army. The PLA was also implicated in attacks on U.S. government systems following the May 1999 bombing of the Chinese embassy in Kosovo. And while such attempts aren't new, apparently the level of disruption in the June attacks caused the Pentagon to shut down some systems for up to a week.
