Stalker Tracker Scam Targets MySpace

Monday March 26, 2007
Someone calling themselves the "Blue China Group" is targeting MySpace users, promising a free 'stalker tracker' program to see who's lurking on the page and viewing the profile. Those who sign up for the program are in for a rude awakening - the stalker tracker doesn't actually exist. What really happens is your account is logged into and all your friends receive comment spam as if it came from you. The comment spam generally reads along the lines of "See who is spying on your myspace page! Click here to start tracking your profile lurkers!" After spamming all your friends, code is added to your MySpace page that dishes up advertising - with all proceeds going to the "Blue China Group". As if that's not chilling enough, consider the hidden meaning in this bit from the FAQs describing the 'program':
Will this tracker use Cross Site Scripting (XSS)
The final public release version of stalkertrack.com's tracker will NOT make use of spyware, malware, "hacks", cross site scripting attacks(XSS), cookie stealing, or any form of non-consented activity to obtain its tracking results. It will have the same user interface as the demo but will not work as such.

So the final release version will not. But since there is currently NO version, it's doubtful there ever will be a final release version. Does this mean that what people have really signed up for is "spyware, malware, 'hacks', cross site scripting attacks(XSS), cookie stealing, or any form of non-consented activity"?

My guess is yes. After all, what more can be expected from someone who deceptively gains access to your account, then spams all your friends pretending to be you, and then adds insult to injury by using your personal page to push advertising for their own profit?

If you fell victim to this scam, change your password.

I spent all night trying to figure out how to remove the lovely spam or whatever some site did to my page (I’m sure you all recieved a nice little add from me well not me but my name) If it happens to you there is a very simple solution A) change your pass word duh huh yea I’m slow B) to remove the add from your blog space (and this took me 2 hours to figure out lol) first go to edit your blog’s appear. go down to custom header and remove the tag u’ll see it and save then go back to home and go into your blog through safe mode and delet the comment that contains the exact same code…. Ta Da I couldn’t find one site on the internet that could explain that to me lol I had to figure it out on my own so I must be smart DDDDDer :) well maybe this will help someone else out so i’m putting all over the internet !!!!!!!!!!!

Protect and clean your PC.
When searching for an antispyware scanner that will protect and clean your PC it can get a little confusing. There are so many available it’s hard to know which one will work the best. If you’re like me, you’ve probably tried a variety of them all and found they basically all find the same types of bugs. Through my experimenting I’ve found that the antispyware solution from Orbasoft at (http://www.orbasoft.com) works the best. Orbasoft Antispyware cleans and protects my computer just as good as any scanner, it gets rid of those nasty bugs and it does it all for less than many of the others available.
