Forget Kaspersky Internet Security under Vista Business. It runs a complete scan every time you start windows opr start the program desipte using the settings that tell it not to.

No support unless you buy it first.

Would you trust a security program that works like this?

Eset on their web site says now they are vista complient. I don’t know more than that. Marty raises a good point.

Thanks for reporting that Jared. I checked their site and don’t see any indication they’ve been awarded the logo. Their marketing banner says it offers Vista support, but that’s not the same thing. If you’re seeing it some other place, can you post a link if you have it?

    (5) Marty says:

It maybe that the SuperFetch feature is causing Kaspersky and BitDefender to scan 1000’s of files on bootup. I tried to turn SuperFetch off but it didnt work.

It may be a Vista issue. I didnt ntocie Onecar Live doing or Symantec doing that. I f it is a SuperFetch issue, I wonder if the AV software can tell the difference or can be made SuperFetch aware

    (7) Larry says:

OneCare is junk, so is windows defender.
OneCare scans, yet the progeess meter does nothing. How much can you trust a security program if it cant do something as simple as that? NONE

Norton 2007 brings up a incompatible warning under vista, so its obviously not ready either.

currently trying Trend MIcro 2007, which it actualloy did find 30 spyware or adware files, but who knows.

Were the antivirus people sleeping when the vista beta’s were out for them to develop on?

    I think SO!!

    (8) Tag says:

Actually, the virus folks were to busy sulking and complaining to ride the wave.

Avast causes issues with web browsing for me. So my search for decent protection continues.

    (15) Mike says:

Norton is one gigantic headache and if you need to talk to someone you wait on the phone for hours. I’ve tried to download several of the so called free anti-virus programs which is now a big scam with all of them. They take you for a ride and do NOT give any of them a credit card as you will not be given a jar of Vaseline which you’ll need by the time they get through running up charges. Clam-Win and Ad-Aware used to be good free programs but, neither work with Vista. In fact nothing so far has gone through a complete download. It is amazing that people who work for Microsoft are so rich considering none of them seem to have the slightest clue. BTW, Vista S*U*C*K*S!!!!!

Your right on Norton products, LiveUpdate says it is downloading updates but you wait for hours just to get message that updates are unavailable! What a joke…

When you only have dial up (not DSL) internet connection,
it takes wayyyyyyy to long to download anything. It is true Windows Vista is a pile of dog dumps.
