Saddam Execution Exploited by Malware Authors
Tuesday January 9, 2007
F-Secure has reported on three separate incidents of malware exploiting the execution of Saddam Hussein. F-Secure has dubbed the three threats Banload.BSX, Banload.BSW and Delf.ACC. The security vendor notes that two out of the three "try to disguise their actions by opening up a YouTube page with the Portuguese search keyword 'enforcado' (execution)."
Each of the three threats are reported to be downloader trojans that download variants of the password-stealing Banker trojan. The attachments to the trojan-laden emails were named 'saddam.morto.scr' (Banload.BSX), 'video_sadan.exe' (Banload.BSW), and 'sadan.exe' (Delf.ACC).
