WMF Exploit: Workaround

There is a workaround to prevent being victimized by the WMF Image Handling Exploit. But it is only effective for Windows XP and 2003 users. The workaround involves unregistering shimgvw.dll, the core component in Windows Fax and Picture Viewer that contains the vulnerability.
