Half a Dozen New Bagles

Thursday December 22, 2005
Mass seedings of Trojaned emails carrying Bagle downloaders have been reported throughout much of today. As with the last round of numerous Bagle sightings, today's miscreant mails use subject lines with common first names (i.e. Andrew, Ann, Martha, Mary, etc), preceded sometimes by the words "DELIVERY FAILURE" or "Undeliverable". The emails carry a zip attachment which, if opened, installs the Bagle downloader to the recipient's system. To avoid infection by mass-mailed worms and Trojans, avoid opening any attachments received unexpectedly - regardless of source. And, as always, keep your antivirus software up-to-date, use a personal firewall, and follow these computer safety tips to help keep Bagle and other Internet-borne threats at bay.
