Sex, Not Spam, Led to Murder

Wednesday July 27, 2005
The Russian newspaper Kommersant reports that the murder of notorious spammer Vardan Kushnir was the result of sex turned robbery and not a hate crime related to spam.

On Sunday, Kushnir was found bludgeoned to death in his Moscow apartment. Kushnir was behind a 2003 spam rampage that left millions so angry, some reportedly resorted to death threats and the deposit of feces in front of his office. But Moscow media has discovered that it was the lure of sex, and not of spam, that led to the early demise of the 35-year-old Kushnir.

According to the Russian media reports, on the night of his murder Kushnir allegedly met three women in a club whom he invited to his apartment. The women then drugged and robbed Kushnir. He apparently awoke during the robbery attempt and was subsequently beaten to death.
